About Us

    A Little History - More Than a Half of a Century's Worth

    The Association was founded in 1942 as the Richmond Personnel Association and in 1996 changed its name to the Eastern Indiana Human Resource Association.  In 1993, the Association became a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the largest national organization dedicated to the support and development of human resource practitioners.

    Through more than fifty years, the goal of the Association and its members has been to provide a means for the interchange of ideas, experiences, and methods concerning the effective practice of human resource management. Furthermore, the Association is dedicated to the application of "right thinking" and progressive methods in the practice of human resource management.

    Membership is open to individuals actively engaged in the field of human resources and/or seeking expertise in one or more human resource functions. College students are also eligible!  Our speakers who are selected for chapter meetings present to the membership on the latest developments and progressive methods in human resources.  Most of our professional development activities throughout the year are SHRM certified.  The Association meets for a business meeting and luncheon at 11:30 a.m., the second Thursday of each month, except in June & July, at Reid Health, Richmond, IN.  

    EIHRA Purpose

    The purpose of the Association shall be to provide a means for advancing the human resource profession and the capabilities of all members through the interchange of ideas, experiences, education, and professional development; in conjunction with SHRM, serve the needs of all human resource professionals providing the most essential and comprehensive resources available; to ensure that HR is recognized as an essential partner in developing and executing organizational strategy.
